Let us look at the following Noble Verses from the Glorious Quran:
1- Babies breast feed for up to two years. The period could be less. This is clearly seen in the following "in في" in the Noble Verse, which means within:

The following points are important to note:
(a)- Not all pregnancies go for 9 months. Some are shorter, and some on rare occasions go even longer.
(b)- The Glorious Quran never once said that pregnancies go for 9 months. This is because the months almost always vary between women.
(c)- As we saw in Noble Verse 31:14 above, the normal breast feeding period is up to ("in في") two years for the normal family. So the period could go less in months. This is further demonstrated in Noble Verse 2:233, below.
(d)- The 30 months in Noble Verse 46:15 is Allah Almighty's Command for the minimum total months for the gestation and breast feeding and weaning periods.
(e)- The 30 months are also Allah Almighty's picture for the son and daughter to help them picture the type of hardship their parents, especially their mother, has gone through. We children often take our parents for granted way too much, and tend to forget the type of hardship that they've gone through to raise us. So the 30 months here is a picture, and not an exact number, for the children to see in order for them to:
(f)- The 30 months here couldn't be an exact unchangeable number figure here, because both the gestation periods and the needs of children for breast feeding vary. Some are longer and some are shorter. But parents, nonetheless, should aim for completing the 30 total months period.

The following points are important to note:
(a)- This Noble Verse, 2:233, is speaking about the divorced parents.
(b)- Since the father isn't around because of the divorce, then Allah Almighty recommended for the child to breast feed for two full years, if the father desires.
(c)- Like in the other Noble Verses above, the total number here isn't a fixed number.
(d)- So the breast feeding period could be shorter.
(e)- But the parents, nonetheless, should estimate a total period of 30 or so months for the total care of the baby from the time of pregnancy to the time of weaning. It could be longer if the father desires. So it varies, and it is up to the father. But the minimum should be, nonetheless, 30 months total.

As we have clearly seen in the Noble Verses above, there is no contradiction in the Glorious Quran. One only had to look at the Noble Verses that dealt with the topic of pregnancy, gestation, breast feeding and weaning to see that there is clearly no contradiction in the Noble Verses. The total period varies depending on what the father wants. Also, "in في" clearly demonstrated that the period was dynamic, depending on the baby and the parents, and that the 30 months that Allah Almighty mentioned were a picture and close estimate to enable the children to see it and to appreciate more and more their parents, especially their mothers who have gone through a lot of pain to care for them.
And as we've also clearly seen above, the Glorious Quran is filled with Overwhelming Scientific Miracles in It, and also amazing Prophecies.
Indeed, all Praise and Glory are due to Allah Almighty alone for making the Noble Quran be the Perfect and Everlasting Miracle, for us humans, out of all of His Divine Miracles! Some mothers go dry much earlier than others (See also Isaiah 1:9-17: Yahweh called Israel Sodom, because it spreads evil and is unjust). They all vary, and this had always been a known fact. This is even mentioned in Noble Verse 2:233 that I just quoted. Read the part about hiring a foster mother, if needed for those fathers who want to complete the full two years. 3- Allah Almighty didn't give an estimate number out of confusion. No. Instead, Allah Almighty gave us, the children of our parents, a number that is close enough to give the picture of the type of hardship that our parents had to endure when we were babies. Babies don't just eat any food, nor are they like ordinary children. 4- It is crystal clear from the Holy Quran that the total number of months for the pregnancy, gestation, nursing and weaning periods varies, and isn't a fixed number. 5- Now, your thoughts are very interesting, akhi (brother).
