1-  The Noble Quran's claim about the Ozone layer able to heal itself:

The Noble Quran is filled with scientific statements and notions.  These are statements of Allah Almighty describing how He created things on earth and in the Universe.  What's most amazing is that all of these scientific statements and notions had been proven to be in perfect agreement with science and our modern-day scientific discoveries.  Allah Almighty made the Noble Quran be Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) Everlasting Divine Miracle and proof for Prophethood.  The Holy Book certainly stood the test of time 1,500 years ago with Its Claims, Prophecies and Miraculous language eloquence, and it does again and again in our day today with Its overwhelming agreement with science and discoveries that were not known to man 1,500 years ago.

With this said, let us first look at what our Beloved and Blessed Prophet, Muhammad, said regarding the Scientific Notions in the Noble Quran:

Narrated Abu Huraira: "I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "I have been sent with Jawami al-Kalim (i.e., the shortest expression carrying the widest meanings), and I was made victorious with awe (caste into the hearts of the enemy), and while I was sleeping, the keys of the treasures of the earth were brought to me and were put in my hand." Muhammad said, Jawami'-al-Kalim means that Allah expresses in one or two statements or thereabouts the numerous matters that used to be written in the books revealed before (the coming of) the Prophet.  (Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Interpretation of Dreams, Volume 9, Book 87, Number 141)"

As we clearly see, the Prophet said that he was sent to reveal pithy words that encompass many meanings and topics, which are short in quantity and rich in meanings and interpretations.

In a previous article, I have thoroughly demonstrated using several Noble Verses how Allah Almighty talked about our Ozone layer being a raised and protective roof above earth.  In this article, we will see how the Scientific Notion that Allah Almighty used for the Ozone layer seems to also state the earth's Ozone layer is capable of healing itself from any damage that might happen to it, either from man or from space.

To a simple bedouin such as our Beloved and Blessed Prophet, Role Model and Teacher, Muhammad, Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon him, who lived in Arabia 1,500 years ago, looking up in the sky during the day and seeing it blue with white clouds, and looking at it at night and seeing it black with bright dots of stars, wouldn't think in a million years (if he were to live in his same status) that there is an actual protective layer (what we call today the Ozone layer) covering the entire planet earth!!!

Ozone is a roof, clouds aren't:

Obviously, the Noble Verses below are not talking about clouds, because clouds are scattered in the air, while Allah Almighty Said that He made the sky (Ozone) a "raised" and "protected roof"!  A roof is a one solid piece that covers, shelters and protects the things under it.  Let us look at what Allah Almighty Said in the Noble Quran:

As we clearly and indisputably see, Allah Almighty created our sky/heaven to be a protective and protected ceiling for us.  But this is not the only thing Noble Verse 21:32 is saying.  Notice how the Notion in the Noble Verse also means that this roof is safe and well-protected (from damage).  This is important because as science have uncovered today, the Ozone layer (our roof) is well capable of healing itself from the severe damage that man is causing it with his excessive air pollution.  Now, while the Ozone layer would take 100s, if not even 1000s, of years to heal, but nonetheless, it is well-capable of healing and restoring itself to its original form, hence making the Notion in Noble Verse 21:32 much clearer and more proving to the Noble Quran's Divine Claims, because neither man or any power from space could cause the Ozone layer to completely vanish.

Question: Verse 21:32  وَجَعَلْنَا السَّمَاءَ سَقْفًا مَّحْفُوظًا وَهُمْ عَنْ آيَاتِهَا مُعْرِضُون The word (محفوظاً) does it mean (protected) or (protective) in other words is it the sky protects us or is it that the sky is protected.  Is it objective or subjective Answering: It is both objective and subjective. The sky is both a protector for us and is also protected from harm.  A SAQF سَقْفًا (ceiling) is something that is above one's head and is both protective and protected.  MAHFOOTH محفوظ (protected, protective) is derived from HIFTH (keep, memorize as in memorizing the Quran).  If I give you $1000 to keep until I return from a trip, then the money is in your HIFTH (keep and protection).  Visit also Aurora Lights Hadith:    Allah Almighty in the Glorious Quran said that earth is:        -  Spherical: "egg-shaped" [1].        -  Is rotating around itself.        -  Is moving in space in curvy orbits [2].        -  Is in constant motion.        -  Is suspended in space.        -  Is swimming in space.        -  Is traveling through the constantly expanding universe [3].        -  The sunsetless North Pole miracle in the Glorious Quran [4].  At the top of the North Pole, the sun never sets [4], and I showed the video for that, and also quoted the scientific sources for that. Of the Signs of his Lord, The Greatest!” (Quran 53.18) That the Prophet had seen a green carpet spread all over the horizon of the sky قَالَ رَأَى رَفْرَفًا أَخْضَرَ سَدَّ أُفُقَ السَّمَاء." (Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 54, Number 456) Visit also: Islamic proof that the sun prostrates to Allah Almighty when it is above Mecca.    Regarding Dhil-Qarnayn (literally means "man of two horns"), Allah Almighty said this about his journey to the farthest northern lands and people: ‏18:90 حتى اذا بلغ مطلع الشمس وجدها تطلع على قوم لم نجعل لهم من دونها ستر "Until he reached near حتى اذا بلغ where the sun is up مطلع الشمس, he found it above وجدها تطلع على people قوم whom We made no cover for them from it لم نجعل لهم من دونها ستر.  (The Noble Quran, 18:90)" Noble Verse(s) 18:91 Rodwell: [018:091]  Thus it was. And we had full knowledge of the forces that were with him. Arabic (Read from right to left.  Also, all png image files: [1] [2].  Quran Moral Code (100s of them)]): ‏18:91 كذلك وقد احطنا بما لديه خبرا     Prophet Muhammad "did see" (Quran 53.18) the Aurora Lights covering the horizons above the earth from space.  Dhil-Qarnayn went up to the farthest northern lands where the sun is up, and "Thus it was", Allah Almighty completed the "full knowledge" regarding Dhil-Qarnayn's mission.  This further supports the story below about Dhil-Qarnayn's journey to the farthest northern lands and people (The sunsetless [4] North Pole Quran-miracle).  They also spoke almost unintelligibly (18:93), the Glorious Quran says.  They hardly spoke intelligibly (18:93).  For example, can you read or say this: "Vaðlaheiðarvegavinnuverkfærageymsluskúrslyklakippuhringurinn" ??  This is an actual word. Historians have proven that the Barbarians of the North used to speak unintelligibly.  The actual meaning of the word "Barbarian" is someone who speaks unintelligibly.  The description of the people of the North, whose North Pole is truly sunsetless (see ample pictures), perfectly fits the Barbarians of the Vikings in the Scandinavian and other Barbarians in the near by lands: The early Muslims believed that Dhil Qarnayn reached the people of the farthest norths of the earth.  The following is a map of Al-Sharif Al-Idrisi in year 1154 giving the geographic location of where Dhil Qarnayn went according to the understanding of the early Muslims of Noble Verses 18:83-100: Dhil-Qarnayn literally means "man of two horns" Dhil = One who has. قرنين Qarnayn = two horns.  Qarnayn is a dual plural of Qarn (horn). Man can eliminate himself, but he can't eliminate mother nature!

It is also worth mentioning that while man can cause the Ozone layer to change and react differently by punching a hole in it through his evil and pollution and greediness, but he can never cause it to cease to exist.  On the contrary, he will only hurt and kill himself.  Perhaps this is one of Allah Almighty's Divine Ways to tell us that our evil will only hurt us.  Our today's continuous evil against mother nature will cause for our Ozone layer to behave in a certain way that will cause life on this earth to cease to exist for the next million years or so.  But we will never be able to cause the Ozone layer to cease to exist, hence making it truly a safe, well-guarded, and elevated ceiling as Allah Almighty precisely mentioned these Words in several Noble Verses, for this specific subject, the Noble Quran!  It served man and animals for millions of years without a problem, - protecting life from the dangers of space and by filtering out the sun rays (blocks out the sun's ultraviolet rays), - and it will continue to serve him for as long as he doesn't hang himself with his own rope!

Also, it is important to know that the facts about our Ozone layer being a protective ceiling and is able to heal itself may not be the only things that are covered in this Noble Verse.  The beauty of the Noble Quran is that it is an Everlasting Miracle for all men, all times and all places.  So it is quite possible that more hidden Miracles will be discovered in the future.

2-  The Scientific proofs:

Let us now see if science has proven that our Ozone layer is indeed able to heal itself and restore itself to its original form, hence making it truly a safe, well-guarded, and elevated ceiling by Allah Almighty.

Endangered species can rebound, the earth can create its own ozone, the oceans can absorb greenhouse gases. The rate of recovery depends on the type of damage being done. Species can recover in a few decades; ozone, a century; old growth forests, several centuries; the cooling of radioactive waste, hundreds of thousands of years. But here is a critical point: the environment cannot recover while we are still increasing the damage to it. In many areas, humans are destroying the environment faster than it can recover, as the following statistics will show. And if we continue in our current ways, the damage will inevitably become permanent.

Fortunately, one substance that was used very massively as a solvent, 1,1,1-trichloroethane, has a half-life of only 12 years, so that, as it was banned in most major using countries in 1996, the levels of this compound in the air are already measurably improving.

It should be noted that the "ozone hole" is not really a hole but simply an important thinning of the ozone levels over the Antarctic in each southern spring. The cause is quite complex but is simply driven by a weather situation, in conjunction with the man-made chemicals in the stratosphere. In 2002, a peculiar event happened, in that there were two "holes", each of slightly less individual importance. The 2004 "hole" was similar to the 2003 one, very slightly less in depletion but covering a larder area. Even with the application of the Montreal Protocol, it will become significantly worse before it gets better, probably peaking around 2040 - 2050 and then starting to improve. Since it takes some time for the ozone-destroying gases to reach the ozone layer we must expect the depletion, not only over Antarctica but also over parts of the Northern Hemisphere, to worsen for some years to come. Given compliance with the prohibitions, the ozone layer should gradually begin to heal after the turn of the century (Fig. 3). Yet it will take at least 100 years before it has fully recovered." There is no question that the Ozone layer is able to restore itself from any abuse that it might receive from either mankind or from outside space.  It is indeed a safe, well-guarded, and elevated ceiling that Allah Almighty created!  It served man and animals for millions of years without a problem, - protecting life from the dangers of space and by filtering out the sun rays (blocks out the sun's ultraviolet rays), - and it will continue to serve him for as long as he doesn't hang himself with his own rope!  Allah Almighty Said:

"We will soon show them Our signs in the Universe and INSIDE THEIR SELVES, until it will become quite clear to them that it is the truth. Is it not sufficient as regards your Lord that He is a witness over all things?  (The Noble Quran, 41:53)"

Indeed, all Praise and Glory are due to Allah Almighty alone.

The Glorious Quran makes it clear that the sun and moon swimming in separate orbits.  Allah Almighty also talked about them being used for our reconning (mathematical calculation of determining time and direction).  Allah Almighty talked about them in relation to our earth and what services they provide for us and our life and survival.
