The Noble Quran is filled with scientific statements and notions. These are statements of Allah Almighty describing how He created things on earth and in the Universe. What's most amazing is that all of these scientific statements and notions had been proven to be in perfect agreement with science and our modern-day scientific discoveries. Allah Almighty made the Noble Quran be Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) Everlasting Divine Miracle and proof for Prophethood. The Holy Book certainly stood the test of time 1,500 years ago with Its Claims, Prophecies and Miraculous language eloquence, and it does again and again in our day today with Its overwhelming agreement with science and discoveries that were not known to man 1,500 years ago.

Before we get into the subject of heavy clouds, it is worth mentioning that Allah Almighty in the Noble Quran made several scientific statements regarding clouds and our ozone layer:

The Ozone layer is a protective ceiling to earth, PRECISELY mentioned in the Noble Quran and confirmed by Science!

Science has proven (as shown in section #4 below) that clouds weigh hundreds of thousands of kilo-tons and that only winds keep them floating in the air! Amazingly, Allah Almighty clearly said so in the Noble Quran 1,500 years ago! Let us look at what Dr. Harun Yahya said, and then I'll further prove his claims using the Noble Quran's translations and scientific quotes and proofs from Western scientists.

The weight of clouds can reach quite astonishing proportions. For example, a cumulonimbus cloud, commonly known as the thunder cloud, can contain up to 300,000 tons of water.

The fact that a mass of 300,000 tons of water can remain aloft is truly amazing. Attention is drawn to the weight of clouds in other verses of the Qur'an:

It is He Who sends out the winds, bringing advance news of His mercy, so that when they have lifted up the heavy clouds, We dispatch them to a dead land and send down water to it, by means of which We bring forth all kinds of fruit... (Qur'an, 7:57)

It is He Who shows you the lightning, striking fear and bringing hope; it is He Who heaps up the heavy clouds. (Qur'an, 13:12)

At the time when the Qur'an was revealed, of course, it was quite impossible to have any information about the weight of clouds. This information, revealed in the Qur'an, but discovered only recently, is yet another proof that the Qur'an is the Word of Allah.

In another verse, the following information is given about the formation of rain:

Have you not seen how Allah drives along the clouds, then joins them together, then makes them into a stack, and then you see the rain come out of it? And He sends down from the sky mountain masses [of clouds] with cold hail in them, striking with it anyone He wills and averting it from anyone He wills. The brightness of His lightning almost blinds the sight. (Qur'an, 24:43)

Scientists studying cloud types came across surprising results with regards to the formation of rain clouds. Rain clouds are formed and shaped according to definite systems and stages. The stages of formation of one kind of rain cloud, cumulonimbus, are these:

1. STAGE, Being driven along: Clouds are carried along, that is, they are driven along, by the wind.

(A) Isolated small pieces of clouds (cumulonimbus clouds)

(B) When the small clouds join together, updrafts within the larger cloud increase. As a result, the cloud is stacked up.

2. STAGE, Joining: Then, small clouds (cumulonimbus clouds) driven along by the wind join together, forming a larger cloud.55

3. STAGE, Stacking: When the small clouds join together, updrafts within the larger cloud increase. The updrafts near the centre of the cloud are stronger than those near the edges. These updrafts cause the cloud body to grow vertically, so the cloud is stacked up. This vertical growth causes the cloud body to stretch into cooler regions of the atmosphere, where drops of water and hail formulate and begin to grow larger and larger. When these drops of water and hail become too heavy for the updrafts to support them, they begin to fall from the cloud as rain, hail, etc.56

We must remember that meteorologists have only recently come to know these details about cloud formation, structure and function, by using advanced equipment like planes, satellites, computers etc. It is evident that Allah has provided us information that could not have been known 1,400 years ago.

These updrafts cause the cloud body to grow vertically and the cloud is stacked up. This vertical growth causes the cloud body to stretch into cooler regions of the atmosphere, where drops of water and hail formulate and begin to grow larger and larger. When these drops of water and hail become too heavy for the updrafts to support them, they begin to fall from the cloud as rain, hail, etc. This scientific fact was announced in Sura Nur 43 fourteen centuries ago by Allah in this way: "... then [He] makes them into a stack, and then you see the rain come out of it…"

(b)- Rain sent in well-balanced and well-calculated "due measure":

Let us look at what Allah Almighty Said in Noble Verse 43:11. As we clearly see below, virtually all of the English translations of Noble Verse 43:11 agree that Allah Almighty spoke about well-calculated and measured amount of rain that is sent from the sky. In other words, the waters in the sky are not random. They are rather:

2- Proportionate with the stacks and layers of clouds that are carrying them.

As we clearly see in the following English translations of Noble Verses 7:57 and 13:12 that Dr. Harun Yahya mentioned above, almost all of the English translators accurately translated سحابا ثقال in Noble Verse 7:57 and السحاب الثقال in Noble Verse 13:12 as heavy clouds.

In the next section below, more clear-cut proofs are given in Noble Word اقلت (aqallat), which further prove that Noble Verse 7:57 does indeed perfectly match up with science.

3- More proofs on Noble Word اقلت (literally means carry):

In regards to the Arabic word اقلت (aqallat) in Noble Verse 7:57 above, in Arabic, we say the airplane "kanat tuqillu" 300 passengers, which means the airplane was carrying 300 passengers. Aqallat is derived from the root word tuqil, which means to carry.

When Allah Almighty Said that the wind literally carries the heavy clouds, His description was perfectly accurate especially when He also talked about the rain falling on the ground afterwards in the same Noble Verse (7:57), because as we will see below, the winds do indeed carry the 1000s of tons of clouds in the air, and they do prevent the rain from falling for a period of time (see also Luke 2:52: GOD forgave Jesus).

So it is the winds that prevent the rain from falling, and Allah Almighty did mention it by stating that the winds do literally carry the clouds, and science has confirmed it.

The Oxford English Dictionary defines a cloud as "a visible mass of condensed watery vapor floating in the air at some considerable height above the general surface of the ground." You might ask "If clouds are watery vapor, and vapor has weight, why doesn't it fall on me?" Even though clouds float, the fact is that clouds do have weight - many tons, in fact. And they do "fall" on you, sometimes, when the fog rolls in.

Even though a cloud weighs tons, it doesn't fall on you because the rising air responsible for its formation keeps the cloud floating in the air. The air below the cloud is denser than the cloud, thus the cloud floats on top of the denser air nearer the land surface.

The Noble Quran's claim is confirmed!

So here, we see a clear-cut confirmation to Allah Almighty's Divine Claims about the winds (the rising air) keeping the clouds that weigh tons floating in the air. Not only that, but Allah Almighty also Said that He created the clouds in stacks/layers. Scientifically speaking, those stacks along with the winds that are underneath the clouds do prevent the rain from falling all at once on the ground, which would then created a catastrophe with all of the tons of water crashing down on the ground, at once, killing and destroying everything it hits from plants, animals and humans, along with ruining the soil.

There is no question that Dr. Harun Yahya's scientific claims weren't just a Muslim's biased views to support the Noble Quran. They were rather accurate scientific statements that were clearly and indisputably confirmed by the Western Scientists, as I've clearly demonstrated above.

Allah Almighty's Divine Claim about the winds keeping the heavy clouds and their rain up in the air has been confirmed by the scientific quotes above, by Allah Almighty's Grace, Mercy and Will!

Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, was neither an astronomer nor a geologist, nor did he even know how to read and write! So when he said through Allah Almighty's Divine Revelations that Allah Almighty sends electrically "fertilizing" winds; that the Ozone layer is a protective ceiling to earth; that Allah Almighty down iron from space; made the earth egg-shaped [2] [3]; made earth into seven layers, the earth's faults that cause earthquakes; mountains prevent the earth from shaking; and talked about the earth's motion in space and around its own axle in numerous Noble Verses [1] [2] [3] [4] [5], which had all been scientifically proven to be true, then this makes it even more and more convincing that we indeed have a beautiful Divine Package of Scientific Noble Verses that talk about earth and many of the things that are tied to it.

2- Allah Almighty said that Prophet Noah lived for 950 years. Yet, all Praise and Glory are due to Allah Almighty Alone, the entire Noble Surah (chapter Noah) is exactly written in 950 Letters. You can thoroughly see the accurate count in the scanned images.

3- Allah Almighty in the Glorious Quran said that earth is:

       -  Spherical: "egg-shaped" [1].
       - Is rotating around itself.
       - Is moving in space in curvy orbits [2].
