Noble Verse(s) 4:157

Yusuf Ali:

[004:157]  That they said (in boast), "We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Apostle of God";- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) know ledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not:-

Dr. Munir Munshey (one of www.answering-christianity.com's authors):

[004:157]  (We punished them because of) their (blatant and boastful) statement, “We killed Jesus, the son of Mary, the Massiah, the messenger of Allah!” But they did not kill him, and they did not crucify him! It just appeared to them to be so! Those who differ are certainly in doubt about that matter. They do not have a definite knowledge. (They have nothing) except their assumptions and conjectures. They definitely did not kill him!

Transliteration:

[004:157]  Waqawlihim inna qatalna almaseeha AAeesa ibna maryama rasoola Allahi wama qataloohu wama salaboohu walakin shubbiha lahum wa-inna allatheena ikhtalafoo feehi lafee shakkin minhu ma lahum bihi min AAilmin illa ittibaAAa alththanni wama qataloohu yaqeenan

Sher Ali:

[004:157]  And for their saying, `We did slay the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, the Messenger of ALLAH;' whereas they slew him not, nor did they bring about his death upon the cross, but he was made to appear to them like one crucified; and those who differ therein are certainly in a state of doubt about it; they have no certain knowledge thereof, but only pursue a conjecture; and they did not arrive at a certainty concerning it.

Shakir:

[004:157]  And their saying: Surely we have killed the Messiah, Isa son of Marium, the apostle of Allah; and they did not kill him nor did they crucify him, but it appeared to them so (like Isa) and most surely those who differ therein are only in a doubt about it; they have no knowledge respecting it, but only follow a conjecture, and they killed him not for sure.

Pickthall:

[004:157]  And because of their saying: We slew the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, Allah's messenger - they slew him not nor crucified him, but it appeared so unto them; and lo! those who disagree concerning it are in doubt thereof; they have no knowledge thereof save pursuit of a conjecture; they slew him not for certain.

Sale:

[004:157]  and have said, verily we have slain Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Apostle of God; yet they slew him not, neither crucified him, but he was represented by one in his likeness; and verily they who disagreed concerning him, were in a doubt as to this matter, and had no sure knowledge thereof, but followed only an uncertain opinion. They did not really kill him;

Muhammad Al-Hilali & Muhsin Khan:

[004:157]  And because of their saying (in boast), "We killed Messiah Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), the Messenger of Allah," - but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but the resemblance of Iesa (Jesus) was put over another man (and they killed that man), and those who differ therein are full of doubts. They have no (certain) knowledge, they follow nothing but conjecture. For surely; they killed him not (i.e. Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary) ):

Palmer:

[004:157]  and for their saying, 'Verily, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus the son of Mary, the apostle of God'.... but they did not kill him, and they did not crucify him, but a similitude was made for them. And verily, those who differ about him are in doubt concerning him; they have no knowledge concerning him, but only follow an opinion. They did not kill him, for sure!

Arberry:

[004:157]  and for their saying, 'We slew the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, the Messenger of God' -- yet they did not slay him, neither crucified him, only a likeness of that was shown to them. Those who are at variance concerning him surely are in doubt regarding him; they have no knowledge of him, except the following of surmise; and they slew him not of a certainty -- no indeed;

Khalifa: (why is he here?)

[004:157]  And for claiming that they killed the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, the messenger of GOD. In fact, they never killed him, they never crucified him - they were made to think that they did. All factions who are disputing in this matter are full of doubt concerning this issue. They possess no knowledge; they only conjecture. For certain, they never killed him.

Rodwell:

[004:157]  And for their saying, "Verily we have slain the Messiah, Jesus the son of Mary, an Apostle of God." Yet they slew him not, and they crucified him not, but they had only his likeness. And they who differed about him were in doubt concerning him: No sure knowledge had they about him, but followed only an opinion, and they did not really slay him,

Noble Verse(s) 2:78

Yusuf Ali:

[002:078]  And there are among them illiterates, who know not the Book, but (see therein their own) desires, and they do nothing but conjecture.

Dr. Munir Munshey (one of www.answering-christianity.com's authors):

[002:078]  Some of them are illiterate and know nothing about the scriptures. They (only) have wishful fancies and (rely upon) conjecture.

Transliteration:

[002:078]  Waminhum ommiyyoona la yaAAlamoona alkitaba illa amaniyya wa-in hum illa yathunnoona

2:78 ومنهم اميون لايعلمون الكتاب الا اماني وان هم الا يظنون

Sher Ali:

[002:078]  And some of them are illiterate, they know not the book but their own false notions, and they do nothing but conjecture.

Shakir:

[002:078]  And there arc among them illiterates who know not the Book but only lies, and they do but conjecture.

Pickthall:

[002:078]  Among them are unlettered folk who know the Scripture not except from hearsay. They but guess.

Sale:

[002:078]  But there are illiterate men among them, who know not the book of the law, but only lying stories, although they think otherwise.

Muhammad Al-Hilali & Muhsin Khan:

[002:078]  And there are among them (Jews) unlettered people, who know not the Book, but they trust upon false desires and they but guess.

Palmer:

[002:078]  And some of them there are, illiterate folk, that know not the Book, but only idle tales; for they do but fancy.

Arberry:

[002:078]  And some there are of them that are common folk not knowing the Book, but only fancies and mere conjectures.

Khalifa: (why is he here?)

[002:078]  Among them are gentiles who do not know the scripture, except through hearsay, then assume that they know it.

Rodwell:

[002:078]  But there are illiterates among them who are unacquainted with the Book, but with lies only, and have but vague fancies.

Noble Verse(s) 2:213

Yusuf Ali:

[002:213]  Mankind was one single nation, and God sent Messengers with glad tidings and warnings; and with them He sent the Book in truth, to judge between people in matters wherein they differed; but the People of the Book, after the clear Signs came to them, did not differ among themselves, except through selfish contumacy. God by His Grace Guided the believers to the Truth, concerning that wherein they differed. For God guided whom He will to a path that is straight.

Dr. Munir Munshey (one of www.answering-christianity.com's authors):

[002:213]  Mankind was all a single community (with a single faith). Then, (they differed and so) Allah raised prophets (among them) as bearers of good news, and as warners. He also revealed to them the scripture containing the truth, so it may settle matters about which people had differed among themselves. They did not (splinter and) differ until after the manifest proofs had already come to them; (and they differed) because of mutual hatred (and jealousy). Then, by His leave, Allah guided the believers towards the truth concerning all matters in which they had differed. Allah guides to the straight path whomever He wants.

Transliteration:

[002:213]  Kana alnnasu ommatan wahidatan fabaAAatha Allahu alnnabiyyeena mubashshireena wamunthireena waanzala maAAahumu alkitaba bialhaqqi liyahkuma bayna alnnasi feema ikhtalafoo feehi wama ikhtalafa feehi illa allatheena ootoohu min baAAdi ma jaat-humu albayyinatu baghyan baynahum fahada Allahu allatheena amanoo lima ikhtalafoo feehi mina alhaqqi bi-ithnihi waAllahu yahdee man yashao ila siratin mustaqeemin

Arabic (Read from right to left.  Also, all png image files: [1] [2]).  Quran Moral Code (100s of them)]):

2:213 كان الناس امة واحدة فبعث الله النبيين مبشرين ومنذرين وانزل معهم الكتاب بالحق ليحكم بين الناس فيما اختلفوا فيه وما اختلف فيه الا الذين اوتوه من بعد ماجاءتهم البينات بغيا بينهم فهدى الله الذين امنوا لما اختلفوا فيه من الحق باذنه والله يهدي من يشاء الى صراط مستقيم

Sher Ali:

[002:213]  Mankind were one community, then they differed among themselves, so ALLAH raised Prophets as bearers of good tidings and as warners, and sent down with them the book containing the truth that HE might judge between the people wherein they differed. But then they began to differ about the Book, and none differed about it except those to whom it was given, after clear Signs had come to them, out of envy towards one another. Now has ALLAH, by HIS command, guided the believers to the truth in regard to which they (the unbelievers) differed; and ALLAH guides whomsoever HE pleases to the right path.

Shakir:

[002:213]  (All) people are a single nation; so Allah raised prophets as bearers of good news and as warners, and He revealed with them the Book with truth, that it might judge between people in that in which they differed; and none but the very people who were given it differed about it after clear arguments had come to them, revolting among themselves; so Allah has guided by His will those who believe to the truth about which they differed and Allah guides whom He pleases to the right path.

Pickthall:

[002:213]  Mankind were one community, and Allah sent (unto them) prophets as bearers of good tidings and as warners, and revealed therewith the Scripture with the truth that it might judge between mankind concerning that wherein they differed. And only those unto whom (the Scripture) was given differed concerning it, after clear proofs had come unto them, through hatred one of another. And Allah by His Will guided those who believe unto the truth of that concerning which they differed. Allah guideth whom He will unto a straight path.

Sale:

[002:213]  Mankind was of one faith, and God sent prophets bearing good tidings, and denouncing threats, and sent down with them the scripture in truth, that it might judge between men of that concerning which they disagreed: And none disagreed concerning it, except those to whom the same scriptures were delivered, after the declarations of God's will had come unto them, out of envy among themselves. And God directed those who believed, to that truth concerning which they disagreed, by his will: For God directeth whom he pleaseth into the right way.

Muhammad Al-Hilali & Muhsin Khan:

[002:213]  Mankind were one community and Allah sent Prophets with glad tidings and warnings, and with them He sent the Scripture in truth to judge between people in matters wherein they differed. And only those to whom (the Scripture) was given differed concerning it after clear proofs had come unto them through hatred, one to another. Then Allah by His Leave guided those who believed to the truth of that wherein they differed. And Allah guides whom He wills to a Straight Path.

Palmer:

[002:213]  Men were one nation once, and God sent prophets with good tidings and with warnings, and sent down with them the Book in truth, to judge between men in that wherein they disagreed; but none did disagree therein save those who had been given it after that manifest signs had come to them, through greed amongst themselves; and God guided those who did believe to that truth concerning which they disagreed by His permission, for God guides whom He will unto the right path.

Arberry:

[002:213]  The people were one nation; then God sent forth the Prophets, good tidings to bear and warning, and He sent down with them the Book with the truth, that He might decide between the people touching their differences; and only those who had been given it were at variance upon it, after the clear signs had come to them, being insolent one to another; then God guided those who believed to the truth, touching which they were at variance, by His leave; and God guides whomsoever He will to a straight path.

Khalifa: (why is he here?)

[002:213]  The people used to be one community when GOD sent the prophets as bearers of good news, as well as warners. He sent down with them the scripture, bearing the truth, to judge among the people in their disputes. Ironically, those who received the scripture were the ones who rejected any new scripture, despite clear proofs given to them. This is due to jealousy on their part. GOD guides those who believe to the truth that is disputed by all others, in accordance with His will. GOD guides whoever wills in a straight path.

Rodwell:

[002:213]  Mankind was but one people; and God sent prophets to announce glad tidings and to warn; and He sent down with them the Book of Truth, that it might decide the disputes of men; and none disputed but those to whom the Book had been given, after the clear tokens had reached them, - being full of mutual jealousy. And God guided those who believed to the truth of that about which, by his permission, they had disputed; for God guideth whom he pleaseth into the straight path.

Noble Verse(s) 16:43-16:44

Yusuf Ali:

[016:043]  And before thee also the apostles We sent were but men, to whom We granted inspiration: if ye realise this not, ask of those who possess the Message.

[016:044]  (We sent them) with Clear Signs and Books of dark prophecies; and We have sent down unto thee (also) the Message; that thou mayest explain clearly to men what is sent for them, and that they may give thought.

Dr. Munir Munshey (one of www.answering-christianity.com's authors):

[016:043]  Prior to you, too, We appointed men and sent revelations to them. If you do not know, ask the people of the scriptures!

[016:044]  (We sent) clear proofs and the scriptures. Now, We have sent you this reminder (Qur’an) so that you may demonstrate the revelations to them. Perhaps they may reflect and ponder!

16:44 بالبينات والزبر وانزلنا اليك الذكر لتبين للناس مانزل اليهم ولعلهم يتفكرون

Sher Ali:

[016:043]  And WE sent not as Messengers before thee but men to whom WE sent revelation - so ask those who possess the reminder, if you know not -

[016:044]  With clear Signs and Scriptures. And WE have sent down to thee the Reminder that thou mayest explain to mankind that which has been sent down to them, and that they may reflect.

Shakir:

[016:043]  And We did not send before you any but men to whom We sent revelation -- so ask the followers of the Reminder if you do not know --

[016:044]  With clear arguments and scriptures; and We have revealed to you the Reminder that you may make clear to men what has been revealed to them, and that haply they may reflect.

Pickthall:

[016:043]  And We sent not (as Our messengers) before thee other than men whom We inspired - Ask the followers of the Remembrance if ye know not! -

[016:044]  With clear proofs and writings; and We have revealed unto thee the Remembrance that thou mayst explain to mankind that which hath been revealed for them, and that haply they may reflect.

Sale:

[016:043]  We have not sent any before thee, as our Apostles, other than men, unto whom We spake by revelation. Enquire therefore of those who have the custody of the scriptures, if ye know not this to be truth.

[016:044]  We sent them with evident miracles, and written revelations; and We have sent down unto thee this Koran, that thou mayest declare unto mankind that which hath been sent down unto them, and that they may consider.

Muhammad Al-Hilali & Muhsin Khan:

[016:043]  And We sent not (as Our Messengers) before you (O Muhammad SAW) any but men, whom We inspired, (to preach and invite mankind to believe in the Oneness of Allah). So ask of those who know the Scripture (learned men of the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)), if you know not.

[016:044]  With clear signs and Books (We sent the Messengers). And We have also sent down unto you (O Muhammad SAW) the reminder and the advice (the Quran), that you may explain clearly to men what is sent down to them, and that they may give thought.

Palmer:

[016:043]  And we have not sent before thee any but men whom we inspire,- ask ye those who have the Reminder, if ye know not yourselves,-

[016:044]  with manifest signs and with scriptures; and we have sent down the Reminder to thee too, that thou mayest explain to men what has been sent down to them, and haply they may reflect.

Arberry:

[016:043]  We sent not any before thee, except men to whom We revealed: 'Question the people of the Remembrance, if it should be that you do not know --

[016:044]  with the clear signs, and the Psalms; and We have sent down to thee the Remembrance that thou mayest make clear to mankind what was sent down to them; and so haply they will reflect.

Khalifa: (why is he here?)

[016:043]  We did not send before you except men whom we inspired. Ask those who know the scripture, if you do not know.

[016:044]  We provided them with the proofs and the scriptures. And we sent down to you this message, to proclaim for the people everything that is sent down to them, perhaps they will reflect.

Rodwell:

[016:043]  None have we sent before thee but men inspired ask of those who have Books of Monition, if ye know it not -

[016:044]  With proofs of their mission and Scriptures: and to thee have we sent down this Book of Monition that thou mayest make clear to men what hath been sent down to them, and that they may ponder it.

Yusuf Ali:

[016:064]  And We sent down the Book to thee for the express purpose, that thou shouldst make clear to them those things in which they differ, and that it should be a guide and a mercy to those who believe.

Dr. Munir Munshey (one of www.answering-christianity.com's authors):

[016:064]  We revealed this Book to you so that you may resolve their disputes. (It is) a guidance and mercy for any nation that believes!

Shakir:

[016:064]  And We have not revealed to you the Book except that you may make clear to them that about which they differ, ind (as) a guidance and a mercy for a people who believe.

Noble Verse(s) 10:36

Yusuf Ali:

[010:036]  But most of them follow nothing but fancy: truly fancy can be of no avail against truth. Verily God is well aware of all that they do.

Dr. Munir Munshey (one of www.answering-christianity.com's authors):

[010:036]  Most of them follow nothing but conjectures. When it comes to the truth, conjectures do not suffice at all. Surely, Allah has the real knowledge of what they are doing?

Transliteration:

[010:036]  Wama yattabiAAu aktharuhum illa thannan inna alththanna la yughnee mina alhaqqi shay-an inna Allaha AAaleemun bima yafAAaloona

Arabic (Read from right to left.  Also, all png image files: [1] [2]).  Quran Moral Code (100s of them)]):

10:36 ومايتبع اكثرهم الا ظنا ان الظن لايغني من الحق شيئا ان الله عليم بما يفعلون

Sher Ali:

[010:036]  And most of them follow only conjecture. Surely, conjecture avails naught against the truth. Verily, ALLAH is well aware of what they do.

Shakir:

[010:036]  And most of them do not follow (anything) but conjecture; surely conjecture will not avail aught against the truth; surely Allah is cognizant of what they do.

Pickthall:

[010:036]  Most of them follow not but conjecture. Assuredly conjecture can by no means take the place of truth. Lo! Allah is Aware of what they do.

Sale:

[010:036]  And the greater part of them follow an uncertain opinion only; but a meer opinion attaineth not unto any truth. Verily God knoweth that which they do.

Muhammad Al-Hilali & Muhsin Khan:

[010:036]  And most of them follow nothing but conjecture. Certainly, conjecture can be of no avail against the truth. Surely, Allah is All-Aware of what they do.

Palmer:

[010:036]  But most of them follow only suspicion; verily, suspicion does not avail against the truth at all; verily, God knows what they do.

Arberry:

[010:036]  And the most of them follow only surmise, and surmise avails naught against truth. Surely God knows the things they do.

Khalifa: (why is he here?)

[010:036]  Most of them follow nothing but conjecture, and conjecture is no substitute for the truth. GOD is fully aware of everything they do.

Rodwell:

[010:036]  And most of them follow only a conceit: - But a conceit attaineth to nought of truth! Verily God knoweth what they say.

Noble Verse(s) 10:66

Yusuf Ali:

[010:066]  Behold! verily to God belong all creatures, in the heavens and on earth. What do they follow who worship as His "partners" other than God? They follow nothing but fancy, and they do nothing but lie.

Dr. Munir Munshey (one of www.answering-christianity.com's authors):

[010:066]  Beware! Everyone in the heavens and on the earth belongs to Allah! Those calling others besides Allah are not following any ‘partners’ (of Allah). They merely run with their assumptions. They only indulge in conjectures!

Transliteration:

[010:066]  Ala inna lillahi man fee alssamawati waman fee al-ardi wama yattabiAAu allatheena yadAAoona min dooni Allahi shurakaa in yattabiAAoona illa alththanna wa-in hum illa yakhrusoona

Arabic (Read from right to left.  Also, all png image files: [1] [2]).  Quran Moral Code (100s of them)]):

10:66 الا ان لله من في السماوات ومن في الارض ومايتبع الذين يدعون من دون الله شركاء ان يتبعون الا الظن وان هم الا يخرصون

Sher Ali:

[010:066]  Behold ! whoever is in the heavens and whoever is in the earth is ALLAH's. Those who call on others than ALLAH do not really follow these associated-gods; they only follow conjecture, and they only make guesses.

Shakir:

[010:066]  Now, surely, whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is Allah's; and they do not (really) follow any associates, who call on others besides Allah; they do not follow (anything) but conjectures, and they only lie.

Pickthall:

[010:066]  Lo! is it not unto Allah that belongeth whosoever is in the heavens and whosoever is in the earth ? Those who follow aught instead of Allah follow not (His) partners. They follow only a conjecture, and they do but guess.

Sale:

[010:066]  Is not whoever dwelleth in heaven and on earth, subject unto God? What therefore do they follow, who invoke idols, besides God? They follow nothing but a vain opinion; and they only utter lies.

Muhammad Al-Hilali & Muhsin Khan:

[010:066]  No doubt! Verily, to Allah belongs whosoever is in the heavens and whosoever is in the earth. And those who worship and invoke others besides Allah, in fact they follow not the (Allahs so-called) partners, they follow only a conjecture and they only invent lies.

Palmer:

[010:066]  Is not, verily, whoever is in the heavens and whoever is in the earth God's? What then do they follow who call on associates other than God? Verily, they follow nothing but suspicion, and verily, they are telling naught but lies.

Arberry:

[010:066]  Why, surely to God belongs everyone that is in the heavens and in the earth; they follow, who call upon associates, apart from God -- they follow nothing but surmise, merely conjecturing.

Khalifa: (why is he here?)

[010:066]  Absolutely, to GOD belongs everyone in the heavens and everyone on earth. Those who set up idols beside GOD are really following nothing. They only think that they are following something. They only guess.

Rodwell:

[010:066]  Is not whoever is in the Heavens and the Earth subject to God? What then do they follow who, beside God, call upon deities they have joined with Him? They follow but a conceit, and they are but liars!

Noble Verse(s) 53:28

Yusuf Ali:

[053:028]  But they have no knowledge therein. They follow nothing but conjecture; and conjecture avails nothing against Truth.

Dr. Munir Munshey (one of www.answering-christianity.com's authors):

[053:028]  About this they definitely have no knowledge. They merely go by their assumptions, but when it comes to (the search for) the truth, the assumptions do not help a bit.

Transliteration:

[053:028]  Wama lahum bihi min AAilmin in yattabiAAoona illa alththanna wa-inna alththanna la yughnee mina alhaqqi shay-an

Shakir:

[053:028]  And they have no knowledge of it; they do not follow anything but conjecture, and surely conjecture does not avail against the truth at all.

Pickthall:

[053:028]  And they have no knowledge thereof. They follow but a guess, and lo! a guess can never take the place of the truth.

Sale:

[053:028]  But they have no knowledge herein: They follw no other than a bare opinion; and a bare opinion attaineth not any thing of truth.

Muhammad Al-Hilali & Muhsin Khan:

[053:028]  While they have no knowledge thereof. They follow but a guess, and verily, guess is no substitute for the truth.

Palmer:
