i was watching bbc documentry about islam and 1 guy said tht jesus forgave adulterous and muhammad pbuh ordered them to be stoned to death  and my brother asked me this question 2 so astagfurrilah but people will think jesus is better role model hw do u refute them

by the way if this story of Isa ibn Maryam a.s. is true and really happened, then
Isa a.s. broke the laws of Old Testament! Do you think that a prophet can break the law of God? Surely no!

Yet they conveniently forget that the Prophet kept turning away from the adulterer 4 times in an effort to make the man go away and repent yet the adulterer insisted. What was the Prophet PBUH supposed to do? And like zulfiqar said its next to impossible to convict an adulterer. Did you know in the ottomans 600(?) year history only ONE person got convicted of adultery? And theres a hadith which i cant fully remember but along the lines of 'Do not take a man's previous actions or piousness into account except if its a capital punishment. Find any possible leaway if you can'.

Then, he said: I have committed fornication, and he turned away from him, until when he had confessed four times, he ordered that he should be stoned. When he was being struck with the stones, he ran away, but a man caught up with him who had a camel's jawbone in his hand; hestruck him and he fell down. The Prophet (SAW) was told about how he fled when the stones hit him and hesaid: 'Why did you not let him be?'” (Sahih)

There is no law in Islam except that there exists great wisdom behind it. If you will let somebody who committed adultery to do whatever they like and just forgive them, it won't make any difference, right? They'll do it again. If somebody steals, in Islam, we cut off that person's hand to save the rest. I'm sure the same person won't dare to steal again. If you're going to forgive him, he'll do it another hundred times. The same thing is with adultery; you do something that might harm one individual to save the whole community, whereas if you were to forgive every time, you'll be saving one individual and threating the whole community. Even the story of Prophet Musa (peace and blessings be upon him) and Al-Khadr, mentioned in Suratul-Kahf, is a good example.

In Islam, there an adulterer is stoned, but he cannot be islamically proven that he committed adultery. therefore its a symbolic sentence, which shows how vile and wicked adultery is without enacting the cruel punishment, because people make mistakes, and because people could get falsely accused. It has been proven that this decreases adultery (and fornication), not out of fear by punishment, but out of respect for others.

Jesus didn’t forgive adultry. Please read the story carefully in the Bible:

John 8:10 Then Jesus lifting up himself said to her: Woman, where are they that accused thee? Hath no man condemned thee?
        8:11 Who said: No man Lord. And Jesus said: Neither will I condemn thee. Go and now sin no more

She simply didn’t meet the criteria for punishment. There were no witnesses.

Why didn’t Jesus just forgive her before asking about the witnesses?

We know that in Islam, if one had condemned an adultery the punishment would be on the witness not the adulterer. We need 4 witnesses for the act of adultery.

And even if there were 4 witnesses, our religion does not encourage us to testify against the adulterers but rather going and advising the two adulterers not to.

If the adulterers denied the act then the punishment would be on the four witnesses.
