Is there a contradiction or not (2) ?
« on: November 28, 2012, 11:38:30 AM »
We know from Noble Quran that prophet Ibrahim a.s. and his son Ismail a.s. were in Mekkah and they taught Islam to the people of Mekkah. This is a fact and nobody can deny it.
So this above shows that the Arabs, or Mekkans had prophets and were warned by them and seems to contradict this ayah:
That you may warn a people whose forefathers were not warned, so they are unaware. (Quran 36:6)

now the question is: were the forefathers of Arabs warned by Ibrahim and Ismail a.s. as it is in Quran, or not? becase Quran 36:6 seem to contradict it.

Please help me giving answers.

As'salamu Alaikum dear brother,

One of the main reasons that Islam actually came, was to restore the original Faith.  Islam is the original Faith, but as you know, all religions before Islam were corrupt.

So, who could've warned the Arabs of that time?  No one.  They all had either crooked or false religions.  So Islam came to restore the original Faith through fresh people who had no present Scriptures, and who were ready for a new Prophet.  Otherwise, sending another Jewish Prophet would've been pointless.

I hope this helps, insha'Allah.

Take care,
Osama Abdallah

The verse:

That you may warn a people whose forefathers were not warned, so they are unaware. (Quran 36:6)

If read alone, one might understand from the verse that Mohamed (peace be upon him) was a prophet and warner to only Arabs ?

but verse 7.158 ,makes it clear that he sent to all mankind...

Say (O Muhammad): O mankind! Lo! I am the messenger of Allah to you all.

..............................

the same way , we could apply qualifier to "forefathers" understanding them as not ALL the forefathers of ALL Arabs ,but rather the forefathers of the Arabs livings then back till the era of Abraham.

Note : for Bro parsian ... plz post those kind of threads in the proper place ( Rebuttals & Polemics )

May Allah bless you always.

I think that you brother Egyptian have the best answer yet.
First the word: "abauhum" does not mean "forefathers" but rather "fathers".
So there were many many generations from prophet Ibrahim and Ismail to Prophet Muhammad (alayhim salam).
Then this word used "abauhum" - their fathers, were not really warned, but their forefathers were.
So this is clear, there is no contradiction.
