The Glorious Qur'an
« on: November 22, 2012, 07:31:38 AM »
As-Salamu `Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh brothers and sisters in Islam,
'In Sha' Allah I will try to interpret the meanings of the Glorious Qur'an into the English language with commentary on some verses (like what Dr. Muhsin Khan had done) and commentary including the miracles of the Glorious Qur'an too. 'In Sha' Allah, if Almighty Allah grants me success in doing so, I want your help brothers and sisters to review and help me with this project.

As'salamu Alaikum dear brother Ramzi,

May Allah Almighty bless you for your efforts.  Before you indulge into this project dear brother, you might want to first look at: http://www.answering-christianity.com/detailed_meanings_of_scientific_words_in_verses.htm.  I've gone many of the Key Noble Words that were Scientific, and used 7 big dictionaries that demonstrated their uses before and after Islam.  I used the most popular dictionaries such as Lisan Al-Arab, which is a 10-book encyclopedic volume and several other big ones.

This article should be a good start for you akhi, insha'Allah.  You're more than welcomed to use it and build on it, insha'Allah.

Take care,
Osama Abdallah

Peace
i don't think you should follow Mushin's translation, also you should really look into the information, even some early Muslim scholars, like ibn kathir, have made mistakes regarding the commentary, such as when he was comentaring verse 8: 39, he translated fitna as shirk, but the proof they give about a hadith, backs up the fact that picktall and yusuf ali's translation that it means persecution is correct.

Al-salam ´alaykum.
I think that the Tafseer of Ibn Kathir is the most acceptable.

Possibly, he did make mistakes, as my previous comment states.
