As'salamu Alaikum Everyone,

The "Shahab" that shoots those of the Jinns who try to break their boundaries and tresspass through the Universe could also mean shooting rays and matter from neutron stars, gamma rays, dark matter and other "materials" that Allah Almighty created in the Universe.

Remember that Allah Almighty Said that He Created the Jinns from "smokeless fire"; fire or light that is different from the one that we have on earth.  And the Jinns are also invisible.  So therefore, the "Shahab" that is used to shoot down the transgressing Jinns is not a physical asteriod or meteorites.  Shahab, in the Glorious Quran, also mean a shooting light.  So this was the best description 1,500 years ago to give to the simple man.  They didn't know about dark matter, gamma rays and all of the secrets of the Universe that we ourselves don't even know either.

Another important point is in Main Section #4 in the link that brother mYucesan gave, above: http://www.answering-christianity.com/shooting_stars_miracle.htm.  In it, I posted a Noble Verse from the Glorious Quran where Allah Almighty specifically mentioned that the shooting Shahabs are from the shining stars, which Allah Almighty has put in the Universe:

‏67:5 ولقد زينا السماء الدنيا بمصابيح وجعلناها رجوما للشياطين واعتدنا لهم عذاب السعير

[067:005]  And we have, (from of old), adorned the lowest heaven with Lamps, and We have made such (Lamps) (as) missiles to drive away the Evil Ones, and have prepared for them the Penalty of the Blazing Fire.

The Stars are Missiles (رجوما):

So Allah Almighty here defined that the flaming fire that shoots down the Jinns does indeed originate from the Stars in the Universe.  And as we indisputably see in the article, this is indeed a Scientifically True Statement.  The Gamma Rays bursts and the Cosmic Jets, to say the least, do originate from the stars.

All Praise and Glory are due to Allah Almighty Alone!

Take care,
Osama Abdallah

assalamo alikum!
but it is referred to a phenomena which is seen as is referred to in an hadith as well as follows:

As we were sitting during the night with Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him), a meteor shot gave a dazzling light.  Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) said:  “What did you say in the pre-Islamic days when there was such a shot (of meteor)?”  They said:  “Allah and His Messenger know best (the actual position), but we, however, used to say that that very night a great man had been born and a great man had died,” whereupon Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) said:  “(These meteors) are shot neither at the death of anyone nor on the birth of anyone.  Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, issues Command when He decides to do a thing.  Then (the Angels) supporting the Throne sing His glory, then sing the dwellers of heaven who are near to them until this glory of God reaches them who are in the heaven of this world.  Then those who are near the supporters of the Throne ask these supporters of the Throne:  ‘What your Lord has said?’ And they accordingly inform them what He says.  Then the dwellers of heaven seek information from them until this information reaches the heaven of this world.  In this process of transmission (the jinn snatches) what he manages to overhear and he carries it to his friends. And when the Angels see the jinn they attack them with meteors.”

But from the point of view of science cosmic rays and gamma rays phenomena cannot be seen from earth ?.. Kindly explain this to me brother, i am sure i must be wrong in that its just a matter of interpretation!..

As'salamu Alaikum dear brother,

The Glorious Quran is clear about the shooting Shahab is from the shining stars as I quoted the Holy Quran above.  I am not sure about the physical meteors.  Scientists have discovered that our solar system (our sun and its planets and moons) are encircled inside a ring of asteroids.  I am not sure how the physical rocks of the meteors would effect the invisible Jinns.  But again, Allah Almighty made it clear in the Glorious Quran that the shooting shahab that strikes the Jinns comes from the shining stars:

‏67:5 ولقد زينا السماء الدنيا بمصابيح وجعلناها رجوما للشياطين واعتدنا لهم عذاب السعير

[067:005]  And we have, (from of old), adorned the lowest heaven with Lamps, and We have made such (Lamps) (as) missiles to drive away the Evil Ones, and have prepared for them the Penalty of the Blazing Fire.

I hope this helps.

Take care,
Osama Abdallah

In 7th century Arabia, people did not have any idea about meteors, so the "jinn explanation" added to their understanding of this phenomenon. Of course, jinns are invisible anyway, but this explanation still gives sense to the phenomenon.

Today, when people see meteors, they do not spontaneously think "a devil is getting shot". They just think "a rock is burning in the atmosphere". They no longer really refer to the "jinn explanation" in their everyday life.

So although the "jinn explanation" is not contradicted nor refuted, it is subtly made irrelevant, because it lives in another plan (you have no empirical test to distinguish "random rocks" from "shooted devils", because jinns are not empirically observable anyway).

A similar mechanism works for the "sunset explanation" in another hadith.

Peace be upon you Everyone,

Thank you Mokko for your post.  I wanted to add that Allah Almighty in the Glorious Quran could have also meant that if the Jinns try to tresspass the forbidden boundaries in the Universe, then they will automatically get shot with the Stars' Rays (the shahab that is shot from the stars).  So in other words, the Rays are already in place and it's the Jinns that will run into them.  This is similar to an electric fence.  If one tries to climb it, or even touch it, then he'll get electrocuted.  Let's read the Noble Verse again in light of what I just said:

‏67:5 ولقد زينا السماء الدنيا بمصابيح وجعلناها رجوما للشياطين واعتدنا لهم عذاب السعير

[067:005]  And we have, (from of old), adorned the lowest heaven with Lamps, and We have made such (Lamps) (as) missiles to drive away the Evil Ones, and have prepared for them the Penalty of the Blazing Fire.

I hope this helps, insha'Allah (if Allah Almighty is Willing).

Take care,
Osama Abdallah

Peace be upon all of you,

I thought that Allah gave freedom to devils to stir up human affairs. Is it possible Satan is too strong to be harm by those missiles?

Shooting Jinns with meteors is not absurd.

If it's a Christian or Jewish who objected about this , then this is a farce .

OK , let's get things straight . What's the problem in God using some shooting stars and meteors to throw at the devils ? It's a matter of faith . Of the unseen world ( Ghaib ) . If I use the same mentality , I can object about everything in the Bible too :) . To make it short , none has the right to say that such things of the unseen world are irrational .
