Assalamu alaykum dear brothers and sisters.
I ran into a claim by Rashad Khalifa, who said that Marwan Ibn Al Hakam destroyed the genuine Quran because of the so called verses "inserted to praise the prophet, which Ali was furious about. This lie was refuted however I had two particular questions.
1. Did Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, really consider these verses interpolations or is this a shia lie.
2. Did Marwan really destroy the original genuine Quran with the verses because he thought they were interpolations and would divide the Muslims. Rashad provides this source for this argument - ULUM AL-QURAN', by Ahmad von Denffer, Islamic Foundation, Leicester, United Kingdom, 1983, Page 56-
Assalamu alaykum once more, peace be with you all!
