INTRODUCTION

This article is a response to a YouTube user called Ismaeel Abu Adam, more commonly known as Converted2Islam, regarding his recent video entitled "Why I Left Islam" [1]. This video has gained a large amount of attention, one of the reasons being because Abu Adam was previously a popular YouTuber having 30,000+ subscribers in which he would make videos on various topics of Islam including Islamic Apologetics. However after being Muslim for 16 years he released the video "Why I Left Islam" in which he details that he has decided to leave Islam. His reasoning is summed up in his own words:

"I have been a Muslim for 16 years but in the past view years I have been bothered by some recurring issues which have forced me to question my Islamic faith. And recently I have decided to finally leave Islam and in this video I will explain why... " [2]

In the video he explains one reason why he left Islam which is, he claims, is that Islam teaches that it is permissible to rape female captives of war. He says:

"As shocking as it may seem both the Quran and Muhammad teach that it is permissible (Halal) to capture and rape female war captives..." [3]

To bolster his claim he provides a verse from the Quran, with the a quote from Tafsir Ibn Kathir, and a Hadeeth from Sunan Abi Dawud. In this article we will analyse his claims and demonstrate that the evidence he uses does not permit raping female prisoners of war and demonstrate the impermissibility of raping female captives in Islam. Our response will be in the following sections:

The article shows that rape is forbidden and some interesting events about the war.

And if the female captives did have sexual relations with the captors, then it is due to the captives themselves permitting the sexual relations. As such act had been a norm and exist thousands of years before Islam .

Also ex-Convert2islam said the verse is about marriage, so for marriage with a right hand posession of war who still have husband.
Prior to the marriage,  the right hand posess needs to be a believer.

& There should be a period of wait for her existing marriage to be void. Shall the husband do not purchase the freedom of the captives or contacts made with the wife. The marriage is void.
 
Same goes for Muslim mariiages, if a muslim do not make contact with wife for certain period, then the Muslim marriage is void.

And they who guard their private parts
Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they will not be blamed
But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors (23:5-7)

If he claimed that having sexual relations with right hand posess is rape, then it also means having sexual relation  with wife is rape. Simple as that.

This is a comment i received from another Youtube user, please read it. He is most likely ANOTHER fraud:

"This guy Converted2Islam was fired from his mosque so you can see the grudge he has, this guy claimed he talked to an angel in his home and was Sufi for a short while and rejected all hadiths, so technically he was never muslim. This guy left Islam roughly about 3 years ago, I don't know why he carried on pretending he's a Muslim for this long, he's got a second Facebook page and openly talks about rejecting Islam etc for months and that people should worship Jesus as God LOL! he's also a Hadith rejector so no surprise he left Islam, his family are still Christian I'm gonna assume they convinced him to return back as he's always talking about worshipping Jesus on his Facebook page, all the Hadith he quoted are NON authentic and rejected by the fast majority of scholars because they contract the Quran and other authentic Hadiths, I'm sure He knows this, questions is why is he spreading lies and falsehood? he is just spewing the same racist and prejudice things that they have all been doing all these regurgitaed claims have been debunked by converts like Yusuf Estes, Sheikh Shady, Hamza Yusuf, etc, if you want to learn real islam you can learn it from those guys, not someone who claimed he talks to an Angel LOL He wont tell you he worships Jesus because if we start talking about the Bible, he will cry like a little baby when we pick it apart LOL".

Let's not spread fabricated lies on people.  I am not saying that your post is a lie, but don't make it sound like a confirmed fact.  And we shouldn't fabricate lies on people.  It's against Islam.  Him leaving Islam is his loss.  Let's not become despicable losers and fabricate roamers and garbage on people.  This 180 degrees shift in treating and mistreating people is a trait of liars and hypocrites.  It is quite common here in the USA among the Jews and Christians and their rotten politicians.  And in the Muslim world we have such people as well.

Please try to confirm the statement that you posted above.  Do you have people's names that can verify this?

the reason was made clear, some of the teachings in Islam appears to be evil to him. So his mind says it is not acceptable for a religion to have warfare teachings, and also the case that he brought up such as concepts of raping slave girls.

ITS IMPOSSIBLE SAHIH BUKHARI SAYS THAT IDDAH LAW WAS REVEALED AND IT ALSO SAYS THAT THE CAPTIVES WERE RELEASED
ONLY THOSE PRISONERS OF WAR WHOM NO ONE CAME TO RANSOM AND WHO WERE NEITHER EXCHANGED ARE TAKEN AS SLAVES
