Caliph Umar

I have heard two contradicting reports. First is that the Caliph Umar, lifted a ban that prevented jews from entering the city of jerusalem. Another report I heard was that he enforced an already existing ban because of an agreement with the Christian patriarch of the city.

Im not sure its true, but apparently I heard that Christian and late islamic Sources favor the former opinion while Jewish tradition favors the latter.

Can you please help figure which opinion is the right one, and please back it up with primary resources

i never agreed with anything that has the word "christian" in it. cuz they will unite even with jews and godless people against islam.

I am not sure but i have heard that he permits about 3 Thousands(or hundred) of Jews to settle in Jerusalem.
