I won't accuse you of being the one who mis-interpret it (as you didn't even show us what the alternative meaning would be like),but just to tell you, there is no absolutely any justification to resort to the metaphorical dodge ... If God will ,he can make the whole world vegetarians ,with a word,isn't it ?...
he can even make the whole world one religion "as the writers of those so called prophecies wished" but he won't ,why?
