No. The crescent symbol only was used recently and was first used by the turks (i think).

No, its just an islamophobic claim. The crecent moon was used as a symbol of the ottoman turks. It is associated with islam because the turks were muslims. The myth has its claim that the arabian moon god was "allah" this is not true since the arabian moon god was called "Amm", and the chief god was called "hubal", the arabian equivalent to zeus. "Allah" is merely the arab way to refer to one monotheistic God, thats why arabian christians and jews also use the word "Allah" when refering to God.
muslims are forbidden from associating anything with God as a means of worship, see Quran 22:18, it DIRECTLY references the moon in addition to others.
