الشيطان
« on: March 24, 2021, 08:09:15 PM »
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Is shaytaan in the Quran referring to one satan, or a group of Satan's from humans and jinn? Because like Surah 35 (Fatir):6 says:

"Surely Satan is an enemy to you, so take him as an enemy. He only invites his followers to become inmates of the Blaze."

The word شيطان here is singular.

But in Surah Mulk Verse 5, it says: "And indeed, We adorned the lowest heaven with ˹stars like˺ lamps, and made them ˹as missiles˺ for stoning ˹eavesdropping˺ devils, for whom We have also prepared the torment of the Blaze."

The word for "devils" here is شياطين, the plural of شيطان.

Also, Surah Al-An'aam says in Verse 112, "And so We have made for every prophet enemies—devilish humans and jinn—whispering to one another with elegant words of deception. Had it been your Lord’s Will, they would not have done such a thing. So leave them and their deceit,"

The words "devilish human beings and jinns" (شياطين الإنس والجن) literally means Satans from humans and djinns.

So my question is, doesn't this all seem to imply that there are many Satans, and that bad manipulating humans are also Satan? Doesn't this mean that the places in the Quran (such as Surah Fatir which I quoted) that use the singular form of Satan are actually not referring to one being, but rather to all Satans (from humans and djinns) as a unity?

So is the Grand Satan (Iblis) omnipresent? Did Allah grant him Omnipresence in order to deceive all bad people? Because Iblis did tell Allah "grant me respite." Does this make Grand Satan everywhere? But Grand Satan cant be in Heaven, right? Whenever I think of this, everything turns complicated. Because lets say Satan is in Heaven, that means he eavesdrops on the Angels and Allah's conversations and Allah doesnt throw missles at him.  So basically Im saying that does Grand Satan have a fixed place, or is he everywhere? And if he is everywhere, that doesnt make sense because that means hes in Heaven. Maybe Grand Satan is in a fixed place but entices jinns to become bad and decieve humans? Maybe Grand Satan (Iblis) doesnt deceive us directly but uses jinns to? Thinking of this turns things extremely complicated!

The winners of Paradise will pass by Hell to get purified.  No unpurified person enters Heaven.  In Heaven, there will be no evil, no envy, no bad talk.  If bad talks takes place, well, Hell is always open for any evil doer.

The way one's self will be in Heaven is different from the one he had here on earth.  On earth, we are envious, selfish and cruel.  Yes, we also do carry the attributes of Allah Almighty in us, such mercy, kindness, love and others.  But life on earth is so low and evil, that if Allah Almighty were to put even the Angels here on earth, He would still send them an Angel-Prophet to guide them:

[017:095]  Say, "If there were settled, on earth, angels walking about in peace and quiet, We should certainly have sent them down from the heavens an angel for an apostle."

https://www.answering-christianity.com/quran_creator_or_created.htm

In Heaven, you are the king of your realm.  You have palaces, maids, servants and infinite abundance.  There is no room for envy and evil.  It won't ever get boring there either.  You'll always miss and desire to enjoy the bliss of your kingdom.  That's how you will be created and made if you end up in Heaven.

Everyone is king, and Allah Almighty is the King of kings.

So you're basically saying that Grand Satan cannot be in Heaven because he is evil. So this means Grand Satan (Iblis) is in a fixed place on Earth inticing jinn to become Satans in order to deceive people, right? Like Grand Satan can't deceive all people at the same time (unless he was Omnipresent but he's not), so he would need to appoint jinns to deceive each person on earth, right?

Yourself decides on which route to take.  Satan's snare is little, and he has no authority over you:

[004:076]  Those who believe, fight in the Cause of Allah, and those who disbelieve, fight in the cause of Taghoot (Satan, etc.). So fight you against the friends of Shaitan (Satan); Ever feeble indeed is the plot of Shaitan (Satan).

[014:022]  And Satan will say when the matter is decided: "It was God Who gave you a promise of Truth: I too promised, but I failed in my promise to you. I had no authority over you except to call you but ye listened to me: then reproach not me, but reproach your own souls. I cannot listen to your cries, nor can ye listen to mine. I reject your former act in associating me with God. For wrong-doers there must be a grievous penalty."

Purify yourself with Islam and being genuine with Allah Almighty, and don't play games with your salvation:

[087:014]  Successful has been the one who purified himself!

So you are saying that Satan goes only to person to person whispering weak things? But I thought each person has his own Satan?

In the world of spirits, things work differently.  Satan can only inspire you.  He can't make you do anything.  Now as to how many he can inspire at one time, and how he links up with one who is prone to end up becoming a son of satan, all of that is unknown to us:

[018:050]  And (remember) when We said unto the angels: Fall prostrate before Adam, and they fell prostrate, all save Iblis. He was of the jinn, so he rebelled against his Lord's command. Will ye choose him and his seed for your protecting friends instead of Me, when they are an enemy unto you ? Calamitous is the exchange for evil-doers.

[017:085]  They will ask thee concerning the spirit: Answer, the spirit was created at the command of my Lord: But ye have no knowledge given unto you, except a little.

Not sure about this hadith, but if true, it is symbolic or metaphoric; meaning that you have the choice and will to become evil and a son of satan if you choose.  But that will doom you to Hell.  Again, successful is the one who purifies him/her self.  See the Noble Verses above.

And you can easily repel satan's temptations and evil by reading the short Noble Surash (chapters) that command the Muslim to seek refuge with Allah Almighty from satan and all evil.  But you have to be a believer first.  These Noble Surahs always work for me walhamdulillah for everything.
