I Read Jeremiah 28 from starting but still i don't get
Assalamu alaikum dear brother uzair,
The hebrew word 'Shalom' means peace, one of the meaning of Islam is peace too. In many places of the bible, the word shalom is used which refer to Islam.
This is a quote from Bro Osama's post
Regarding this last link , this is an 11-page must read article! Muslimeen ,
Silm , Shlam , Shlama (in Aramaic, the "a" at the end is the definite article
that is equivalent to the alif and lam "al"), Mashloome , Mushlimana,
Mishalmana , Mishlam, Witness in Arabic and Aramaic, and Prostration in
Arabic and Aramaic are thoroughly discussed in it.
And the previous verse speaks of some previous prophets and their prophesies, and this verse speak of a prophet who prophesies in peace (Shalom or Islam). And when his word comes to pass, he will be known as a true prophet sent by God. This seemed referring to prophet muhammad to me, but it can be otherwise too.
Also see verse 29:7 also.
"..for in its peace you shall have peace."
Can't the proper mening be like this?
"...and pray to the Lord for it, for in its peace you shall have shalom (Islam).“
My main purpose of this topic was to find a detailed article in the main site, not the verse! I just shared what I understood after reading it
.
However, I found this topic is very helpful.
http://www.answering-christianity.com/blog/index.php?topic=1022.0It's the same topic the quote was taken from. Visit the links given there.
Shalom !!!!
