Main reason for ex-muslims departure of Islam
« on: July 23, 2013, 05:58:07 PM »
Assalamualykum
I wanted to share with yall what I think is the main reason people leave Islam. I have noticed a trend among ex-Muslims that i have met in real life and online in that the majority of them have had bad childhoods and they go on to blame it on god. They have a very similar mentality with those of athiests.
A very weak mindset indeed. It all falls back to "the problem of evil". In order to justify their apostacy, they try to find errors and contradictions in the Qur'an. When in reality they're just covering up their hurt and sorrow. May Allah grant us and them hiddayah. Ameen

AsalamuAlaikum,

Brother i totally agree whenever i go on council of ex-muslims or similar sites it always seems to be they werent treated nicely, generally due to cultural reasons rather than islamic. Then they go looking for some contradictions believe the first list they see and dont verify them.

Ameen.

Assalamualykum.

Well, I think their lack of interest in knowing Islam is responsible for this. And somewhat their social environment is also responsible. When a social environment contains anti-Islamic elements, then a weak Muslim easily gets influenced by it and leaves the path of Islam.

May Allah protect us from all types evils. Ameen

Before I comment , I want to tell you something :
STOP GOING TO SUCH SITES !
I had a long experience with them and I can assure you that they lack the most basic manners . And God says :
"And it has already come down to you in the Book that when you hear the verses of Allah [recited], they are denied [by them] and ridiculed; so do not sit with them until they enter into another conversation. Indeed, you would then be like them. Indeed Allah will gather the hypocrites and disbelievers in Hell all together -"
So if they can't talk like civilized people , there is no point in talking at all .

As for the reasons of apostasy , I summarize them in :
1 - Sheer and utter ignorance of anything in the great Islam
2 - Following of ones worldly desires blindly
3 - Defeatist ideology which makes them think that the "Others" are advanced while we are retarded . This one still goes under the first .

I have an ex-muslim friend. He is:

1.) Ignorant about Islam
2.) Uninterested in Islam
3.) Used to hate it because his parents back then would give him so many rules to follow
4.) Doesn't even have a single Surah memorized :(
5.) Prayed and fasted so his parents back then could see.

Its a heartbreaking story, I tried to bring him back--but he is too close-minded and uninterested.

Another thing is , don't just believe that anybody who says he's an ex-muslim is actually an ex-muslim . You should test them . In case they were lying , they won't know the most basic important things in Islam . For example , one of them didn't know that Muslims pray toward Makkah !! Another one didn't know how many prayers there are a day !!

Assalamualykum.

I totally agree with brother Black Muslim. And do you know, these days lots of fake Muslims are available on the internet. They have their own sites or forums by which they are deceiving other Muslims. Some fall into their trap and some survive.  And these fake Muslims are either Jews or Christens.

And about the ex-muslims, I want to say, they're not Muslims. Remember a person doesn't become a Muslim by just having a Muslim name. To be a Muslim one must have the desire, the interest to know Islam. And must abide the rules and regulations laid down by Allah The Most High.

Their excuses are totally meaningless. They just want to live their life according to their own desire. They are blind folded. And are also threat to us because they have no "Taqwa" and can commit any crime in a cold mind, having no fear about its consequence.

 May Allah grant them "Hidayat".

Take Care.

Salam Alaykum,

I think it is a mixture of matters. A few would be:

1) Incorrect information on Islam. Like visiting a anti-muslim website and been fed mis-information, that causes them to dislike Islam.

2) Absence of will or determination to follow the dean, and instead follow the evil desires, that are repeatedly amplified by the WasWasa of the damned Shayateen (devils). Everytime a desire is followed that is forbidden in Islam, the Iman decreases until there is non left.

3) And one main reason, ARROGANCE. The most evil kind of arrogance is rejection of the truth and not following it. In this context, many verses were revealed to scold arrogance and the arrogant people. Examples are: On the Day of Judgment, it is said to the arrogant people in surat Ghafer, (Verse 76), what can be translated as,

"Enter the gates of Hell to abide therein, and (indeed) what an evil abode of the arrogant!"

"And turn not your face away from men with pride, nor walk in insolence through the earth. Verily, Allah likes not each arrogant boaster. (31:18)

“And the slaves of God are those who walk on the earth in humility and calmness, and when the foolish address them (with bad words) they reply back with mild words of gentleness.” (Quran 25:63)

i think the reason people leave islam and even christianity for that matter is because these religions don't provide any practical solutions to the  social and economic problems we face as individuals and as societies.  all they tell you to do is worship God or else you go to hell

That is not right my brother. Islam is the only religion which besides saying do good deeds, it actually shows you a way how to achieve that state of goodness. For example the problem of racism, every other reliiogn says we are all the chilrdren of God, but this is no solution, the practical sollution is given by Islam. Every day 5 times a day Muslims stand shoulder to shoulder in front of ALlah and every year during Hajj millions of people stand shoulder to shoulder and bow in front of ALlah.

This fellow seems to be a simple guy indeed . Time after time , his ignorance shows . I couldn't care less for Christianity and its errors . We're here talking about the great Islam . So either you learn for real - not read islamophobic articles - or keep quite .
