Assalamu Alaikum dear brothers
It's been a while since I posted here. We know that the Jews have been waiting for this figure since time and the Old Testament too speaks of this figure in variety of places such. We also know that this figure will have a certain role to play according to the Old Testament. He will be:
The Descendant of David: Traditional Jewish belief holds that the Messiah will be a descendant of King David. This belief is based on passages like 2 Samuel 7:12-16 and Jeremiah 23:5-6, which speak of a righteous branch from David's lineage who will rule as a king.
The Ingathering of Exiles: The messianic era is expected to include the gathering of Jewish exiles from all corners of the world back to the land of Israel. This concept is rooted in passages like Isaiah 11:11-12 and Ezekiel 37:21-22.
Rebuilding of the Temple: Many Jewish traditions anticipate the rebuilding of the Third Temple in Jerusalem during the messianic era. While this is not explicitly stated in the Hebrew Bible, it is inferred from passages like Ezekiel 37:26-28.
Universal Knowledge of God: It is believed that during the messianic age, all people will come to recognize and worship the God of Israel. This idea is based on texts like Isaiah 11:9 and Zechariah 14:9.
World Peace: The arrival of the Messiah is associated with an era of universal peace, where nations will cease to wage war. This vision is found in passages like Isaiah 2:4 and Micah 4:3.
A Time of Righteousness and Justice: The Messiah is expected to bring an age characterized by righteousness and justice, where the poor and oppressed are uplifted. This notion is drawn from texts such as Isaiah 11:3-4 and Isaiah 42:1-4.
We know that the Quran calls Jesus as Al Masih which means "The Messiah". So is Isa Al Masih of the Quran the awaited Messianic Figure of the Old Testament?
