GENERAL TOPICS | BOARD ANNOUNCEMENTS / Re: Baal and the OT

Ok I think I get it because I searched up the verses and they said "for your lord is your husband" But I noticed something strange, just before the Hosea verse, it appears that the God was angry with someone for worshipping Baal (I think). Then the NASB 1995 translation of verse 2:16 of Hosea says, ""It will come about in that day," declares the LORD, "That you will call Me Ishi (Husband, according to other translations) And will no longer call Me Baali (Master, according to other translations)."

The problem is why is this translation saying that Master is Baal and Husband is Ishi? This is the opposite of what you are saying? You said that the god in Hosea called himself Baal, while the NASB 1995 translation says the god of Hosea said not to call him Baal? Can you check this problem out? The translation is saying the opposite of what you say!

Ok those questions have been answered, but now I have another question. So when and how do Muslims fight a physical war?

Basically, I'm confused what Muslims have to do in this case. Are they permitted to start a physical war with them?

I'm saying what if the government and everyone kafir in a country oppress Muslims and take Islam away from them? Can't Muslims start killing those people because they can't even follow the government (or else they will lose Islam). Like debates with these arrogant people of the supposed country would be useless. The people would still oppress Muslims. Does this mean that Muslims can just start killing these oppressors in order for freedom (because there is no other way) and just turn the country into an Islamic country? Is there any Quranic evidence for starting the PHYSICAL war when the kafirs first started a TAKING ISLAM AWAY war without getting physical? Because if the Kafirs didn't get physical but still oppress (and try to take Islam away from) Muslims, the Quran says to just say "Peace" (according to only my finding).

wait another question, how do oppressed muslims start fighting these people? Do they start striking the necks of those that are taking Islam away from them or something else?

Yes what you said about Christians using the name Allah in Arabia is correct. I personally would not eat Christian meats but I still understand that others eat Christian meats because of the Noble Verse 5:5, which is fine also.

Assalamu Alaykum,

Assalamu Alaykum,

I have a question about cases of fighting. In the Quran, fighting is only for "those who fight you." (Quran 2:190)

[2:190]"Fight in the cause of Allah ˹only˺ against those who wage war against you, but do not exceed the limits. Allah does not like transgressors.

[2:191]Kill them wherever you come upon them and drive them out of the places from which they have driven you out. For persecution is far worse than killing. And do not fight them at the Sacred Mosque unless they attack you there. If they do so, then fight them—that is the reward of the disbelievers."

The problem is that what if in one place Muslims are being oppressed not by physical harm but other ways, like forcing them to eat pork, taking the Quran away from them, etc.? Like basically, the kuffar are not fighting them but are oppressing them in other ways. Now lets also say that the Muslims in that place cannot immigrate to a new land for financial or other reasons. Is it permissible to fight these kuffar until they stop oppression, because these kuffar did not fight them physically (so this would make Muslims start the physical fighting first)? Because as I posted the verse of the Quran that only says to "fight those who fight you," this verse makes it sound like Muslims cannot fight those who did not physically fight them first. So does this mean Muslims must stay passive if the kuffar only oppress Muslims in other ways besides physical fighting?

Thanks but may I ask where it says in the Law that you are obligated to warn people from bad? Just a little question.

Backbiting is forbidden in the Glorious Quran.  Warning people about a bad person is not backbiting, and you are OBLIGATED to if it causes no harm to you or to others.  But backbiting and scandalizing people is forbidden in the Glorious Quran.  One can't go around and talk about people's personal things that are embarrassing to them.

The Noble Verse certainly touches on all of this.  But there are many other Noble Verses that I gave in the link above.

Jazaka Allah Khayr too, brother.

Take care,
Osama

Thanks but may I ask where it says in the Law that you are obligated to warn people from bad? Just a little question.
