As'salamu Alaikum akhi,

While slaves in Islam are owned by their masters, but they are entitled of the following:

1-  Their earned money and whatever is given to them from gifts and clothes and food from their masters.

2-  Respect and good treatment by their masters.  Even a slap on the face would automatically free the slave from his master.  Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, also commanded all masters to cloth and feed the slaves from their clothes and food.

3-  Request to become free from their Muslim masters, and if the master sees good in the slave, then not only he should free him, but also pay him money to enable him to stand on his own.
