1 Peter 1:19    but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.


can someone explain to.me the history of this saying

did peter say this or is it just made up by a pagan

many Greek books with various authors capture the stories about Jesus.

There is Gospel of Peter (rejected).
There is Book of 1 Peter (accepted),
There is  Book of 2 Peter (accepted) -  these 2 books are among 27 other Greek books declared as cannon

However the oldest torn manuscripts of 1 Peter/ 2 Peter dated around 3rd century. Since none of the books have a concept of having chain of narrators or chain of scribes showing its history linking to Peter.
In order to declare the story being true, they must believe in an event where Holy spirit has guided them in selecting 27 true Books.
