Hello there, after doing some research, I have just found a new scientific miracle in the Quran! Here's it:

Ants' Exoskeleton in the Quran!

Until, when they came upon the valley of the ants, an ant said, "O ants, enter your dwellings that you not be crushed by Solomon and his soldiers while they perceive not." Quran [27:18]

We all can obviously notice here that the Quran used the word "crushed", and the word that is translated as crushed is يَحْطِمَنَّكُمْ.

The word يَحْطِمَنَّكُمْ is the same as the word حطم. The difference is just that the word يَحْطِمَنَّكُمْ is the form of the word حطم[ in reported speech and plural.

Let's look at what lisaan al arab said about the word حطم.

(حَطَمَــهُ) مِنْ بَابِ ضَرَبَ أَيْ كَسَرَهُ (فَانْــحَطَمَ) وَ (تَــحَطَّمَ) . وَ (التَّحْطِيمُ) التَّكْسِيرُ. وَ

حطم الــحَطْمُ كَسْرُكَ الشَّيْءَ اليابِسَ، حَطَمْــتُه فانْــحَطَمَ، والحُطَامُ ما تَــحَطَّم من ذلك. وقِشْرُ البَيْضِ حُطَامُه.

If we looked carefully, we will find out that the word حطم means كسر

And if we translated the word كسر. We mostly get break, crash, and crush

As you can see that all these definitions are used for solid things, so the Quran is saying that ants are a solid things? No! It turns out that ants have a very strong skeleton. This skeleton is called exoskeleton, and it's mostly made of chitin. Unlike humans, ants have their skeleton outside, that is why it's called exoskeleton. Ants' exoskeleton is actually very solid and strong. they are capable of lifting a weight many times it's own weight, so imagine having a very solid and strong armor sticking to you, even if you have organisms inside. You'll still make a "crushing" sound, and you would still get crushed because of your armor that is part of you, so ants will get crushed because of their exoskeleton that is part of them! A robot would still be considered crushed even if it had some real organisms inside!

Another thing, the Quran used the word crushed instead of squashed. This should be referring to something.  Normal people would have used يسحقنكم instead of يَحْطِمَنَّكُمْ , because يَحْطِمَنَّكُمْ is used for solid things. Is there anyone who believed that ants are a solid things 1400 years ago?

Again the Quran was proved to be God's true word! Isn't it amazing how these scientific miracles are hidden waiting people to discover them, even myself didn't notice that this word contain a scientific fact!

This amazing new species of ant, found in the Philippines, is called the Pirate Ant. It really looks like it's made of glass!

The research team, led by Sabine Frohschammer, a PhD student at Universität Regensburg, in Denmark, was searching for other species of ants when they came across this almost-see-through specimen in a shady stream bed.

"Due to the darkness of the rainforest and the translucent body parts of the tiny ants they were nearly invisible. Under bright light and a magnifier we detected the nice stripe across the eyes and therefore always referred to these species as 'the pirates,'" Frohschammer said in a statement.

The researchers aren't sure how this strange glassy pigment pattern helps the ants. Because they have poor vision and live and mate in the dark and shady streambed, they don't think it's a mark of the ant's gender.

It may be a tool to distract the ant's predators, they said.

Here's a close up of the glassy outer covering of the ant, which they named Cardiocondyla pirata. The study was published on May 17 by the journal ZooKeys.  Also in PDF.

Fire ant skin, it turns out, is among the most shiny of all ants, nearly like glass, and unless the lighting is carefully managed, the ants look terrible in photographs, all glare and shadow. Place the flashlight inside the box, or the desk lamp just outside, to serve as a working light so you can see what you are doing."

Thomas Endlein, a zoologist at Cambridge University, recently won the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council photography prize with this picture (left). It depicts an Asian weaver ant, Oecophylla smaragdina (Hymenoptera), hefting a 500 mg weight, equaling to about 100 times the weight of the ant. It comes as no surprise that ants are capable of great feats of strength; we often hear about ants lifting "X-hundred" times their body weight. What is astonishing about this photo, however, is that the ant is able to lift 100 times its weight whilst suspending itself upside down on a smooth, glass-like surface. How is it holding on?

Most insects are capable of adhesion to smooth surfaces like glass. On the tips of their legs ants and other insects have a specialized appendage called a tarsus. The tarsus includes claws for locomotion on rough terrain, as well as a flexible pad, called an arolium, for adhesion to smooth surfaces. The surface of the arloium varies within the insects: In flies and beetles it is covered with fine hairs, while on ants, bees, roaches, and grasshoppers it is a flat flexible cuticle. The arolium is coated with viscous secreted fluids allowing it to work like a wet suction cup.

As the ant plants its foot and applies an inward-dragging force on its tarsus, the arolium passively expands, increasing suction contact with the surface (see below). It is by this mechanism that ants generate the suction-adhesion forces required to carry heavy loads over smooth surfaces. This passive expansion is especially advantageous since it automatically prevents detachment in case of sudden jostling. In addition, if the ant only applies a little pressure on the arolium it does not expand as significantly, allowing the ant to move at a brisker pace when not carrying a heavy load.

Weaver ants, like the one in the photo at top, create elaborate woven hives out of plant leaves. Their gathering routs bring them over soil, up bark, and frequently across the undersides of smooth leaves. Therefore they have evolved a tarsus the can grip with both claws and suction in order to carry their heavy payloads home.
